Day 66 hello Croatia

Another country, new money, language etc.

We arrived from Italy having had a good nights sleep believe it or not in our cosy little cabin.

We woke the kids at 6 for breakfast. We arrived on the dot at 7am in Dubrovnik.

We got a taxi who did not know where our accommodation was sound familiar!! We found it in the end. But we could not get in touch with the owner of the apartment. So we went to the local beach.

We finally got in touch with him he was great, friendly and hospitable and helped us settle in. The kids have turtles to look after in the garden they are loving it.

We headed into the old town bought some drinks on the way in, it was scorching.

We had a wander around and had ride on a glass bottom boat. We saw some amazing boats there is certainly some dough here.

We returned to the local beach and had a swim and snorkel then returned home for a BBQ. Cody and luke met 2 Croatian boys from next door and had a play. Again there is no language in play.

We were all in bed by 9.  

Day 65 Bari, Bari who the f?@$ is Bari.

Today was an incredibly long day. 

I woke at 5 am obviously worrying about the day ahead. Anna woke at about 7 the kids were goners. We had packed most of our stuff so it was all good to go.

We left and waved arivaderchi to Amalfi and headed for Salerno on the ferry. It left early which was just as well. We had instructions to print off our tickets at a machine but it would not let us do it. So we then had to queue for ages to get our tickets for the train to be printed. All was good or so I thought. The train was not running so instead we had to get a bus to Taranto. This was ok but would we get our connection in Taranto for Bari where we would catch our ferry for Croatia.

We missed the train and so waited an hour for the next. It was a dodgy station with men sleeping on the benches etc it was not pleasant but we soon boarded the train and all was good.

We got to the ferry port thanks to trip advisor the no,20 worked a treat. We then had to get the free shuttle to get our tickets and more queues, what a pain but I soon returned tickets in hand and we were set. We met a couple and had a light dinner with them Ekaterina and Andrea.

There is this strange person that we have not met in this city. His name is Bari his name is everywhere he's like dog poo. Bari, Bari who the ,,,,, is Bari. Dedicated to to you my friend thanks for the great posts. Hope Brizzy was good and the lions won. Hooray just heard they won!!

We boarded, the boys were excited at the prospect of sleeping in bunks. It is ok this cabin. 

We went for a drink and met up with 5 delightful ladies from Italy. They spoke little English us little Italiano but we conversed for 45 mins making eac other understand what we were going on about. They gave us some rolls and fresh home made cheese from one of their farms how cool it was delicious too the texture of Edam but the taste of cheddar!!!

Cody wanted to watch the boat set off so we did.

In bed now breakfast at 6 in Dubrovnik at 7 happy days.

Thank you Italy we have loved it.

Day 64 Last day of amalfi.

Cody has had a really bad night as he would put it "barfing" so Anna did the motherly thing and stayed home while Luke and I went on a male bonding session to the village of Maiori between Amalfi an Salerno.

Luke and I left at 11am and got on the Sita (public transport) bus to the village of Maiori.

This place though not big is reminiscent of the costa del sol with the number of umbrellas and loungers  per square meter of beach.

Ravello where we went yesterday. Of course anna did not say that when she turned on the camera it said "no memory card" she did not think to check and I was scared to question her as I thought it was my fault. When we got back to amalfi the card was of course there inside the camera as it had been all long.

Luke and. I returned after many swims and games of tag with the best driver on bad roads ever though there were some close scrapes. Do not drive on the Amalfi coast unless you have to. Leave it to the pros.

Cody was a little better and not been sick for some time!!

We decided to get take out from our restaurant of the first night and enjoy the views from our apartment as codymeister was still not 100%.

Tomorrow we get the 10.30 ferry to Salerno for our mighty train ride to Bari to get the ferry to Croatia.

Day 63 Ravello

Today we caught the bus to the beautiful mountain town of Ravello. 362 m above sea level. Most of the lanes are too narrow to navigate by car. The trip there is precarious and if another vehicle comes towards you you have some shuffling and arguing about who has the right of way.

Anyway we had a wonder around the many shops that sell ceramics expensive they are too and had lunch at a lovely restaurant.

We then returned to amalfi where the kids had to do some homework. We then went to our favourite spot in the shade up against the sea wall where we chilled and had a great swim.

Once we got changed we did some planning for Croatia. Then went to a restaurant at the waters edge and had seafood!

On our return Cody was complaining of a bad tummy and has been throwing up all night. I hope he is over it by tomorrow.

Day 62 who's a trani

Today we woke at 9 Cody and I went to get bread and luke and mum stayed in bed!!!!!.

The kids did forced homework til 11.30 it was hard work because they wanted to snorkel.

We went into town and Anna went into church.!!  She has been converted. NOT.

We walked to a place called A TRANNI which is where I get the blog title from. We went to the public beach and swam, snorkeled and chilled for afternoon . Luke and Cody caught some tideless.

We then returned to Amalfi and had another swim there.

Then we had great large pizzas for 10 euro and mat up with Aki  And Emma Jones from Finland. We had a great time meeting them with a few wines and beers!!!! This was great as Anna has Finnish line and we are going there in a few weeks.

Time for bed
